Jean Ann JAM Miller, 73, of Vero Beach, FL died Wednesday, May 27, 2009 at the VNA Hospice House in Vero Beach, FL.
Ms. Miller was born February 5, 1936 in Buffalo, NY and was the daughter of the late Jerome A. and Mildred (Hartung) Miller of Lancaster, NY. Jean had been a resident of Florida since 1955 and a resident of Vero since 1980.
Upon her arrival in Florida, Jean taught elementary school students for more than 15 years. She then became a dental office manager until her move to Vero Beach where she worked for Lawyers Title in the beachside office, from which she retired in the late 1990's. Ms. Miller was a regular volunteer with the Friends of the Library at the Book Depot and had been a long time volunteer with Riverside Theatre. She was also an active member and past President of the Vero Beach Garden Club, Bougainvillea Circle. JAM, as she was known to her close friends, loved travel, gardening, cooking, reading, and crossword puzzles. She often enjoyed pet-sitting for friends. Jean maintained life long ties and visits with her family from New York State.
Ms. Miller was predeceased by her sister Eileen (late Gordon) Weisbeck of Alden, NY and her brother Jerome C. Romie (late Eleanor) Miller of Lancaster, NY. She is survived by her aunt, Catherine (late George) Sheehan, and nieces and nephews.
Services: A Mass will be celebrated 10 AM, Saturday, June 6, 2009 at St. Helen Catholic Church. 2000 20th Street, Vero Beach, FL
