Jean Verdi, 83, of Vero Beach, died Saturday, March 13, 2010 at the VNA Hospice House in Vero Beach.
Mr. Verdi as born in Marseilles, France, and had lived in Vero Beach for 15 year having come from Maplewood, NJ.
He was a veteran of the French Army serving as a sergeant. He emigrated to the U.S. in 1950 and settled in NJ. For 34 years, he was the Executive Chef at Baltusrol Golf Club in Springfield, NJ. During his tenure, the club hosted two U.S. Open Golf Championships both won by Jack Nicklaus in 1967 and 1980 and one U.S. Open Womens Golf Championship won by Kathy Baker in 1985.
Survivors include his wife of 44 years, Maria Verdi of Vero Beach, son Robert Verdi of New York, NY, daughter Anna Verdi and son-in-law John MacIntosh of Brooklyn, NY and granddaughters Fiona, Christina, Caroline and Phoebe.
Services: A graveside service will be held 10:30 AM, Saturday, April 10, 2010 at Hollywood Memorial Park in Union, NJ.
