Jeffrey Charles Dowling, age 65, died Tuesday, November 15, 2016 at Indian River Medical Center, Vero Beach, Florida, surrounded by family and close friends.

Jeff was born August 12, 1951 in Urbana, Illinois. He was the son of James W. Dowling and Elizabeth (Betty) Ann Dowling (Stahl). Jeff was a 1969 graduate of Champaign High School. He was the owner of J. Dowling Paint Services, Inc. in Pompano Beach, Florida, a professional paint and wallpaper company, for many years. Jeff worked with some of the top interior decorators and designers in the U.S. He took tremendous pride in his work; and was meticulous with every detail.

Jeff was also a huge race fan, particularly flat track motorcycle racing, and elite speed skating. He was the publisher of "Fitness and Speed Skating Times" for over fifteen years. Above all, fishing was his passion, followed closely by golf and softball, and he excelled at all three activities. In most recent days, he could be found with a towel in his hands, on a daily basis, polishing his prized possessions; his two custom Harley Davidsons, and his gorgeous Ranger bass boat.

Jeff was a close friend to many people. This can be attested by the many visits and prayers by hundreds of people, near and far, during his short illness. Jeff's engaging personality, and story-telling ability was second to none. He will be missed.

He is preceded in death by his parents. Jeff is survived by his two children, Parker J. Dowling and Justin P. Dowling; his two sisters, Jill D. Burke and Lisa J. Misuraca; his dear friends, Terri Abbate and James (Jay) Fielding; his nieces and nephews; and the rest of his family and friends.
