Jeremiah J. OConnor, 75, of Vero Beach, FL died Thursday, June 12, 2008 at the VNA Hospice House in Vero Beach.
Mr. OConnor was born November 7, 1932 in New Bedford, MA and moved to Vero Beach 22 years ago from Connecticut.
He was a parishioner at St. John of The Cross Catholic Church in Vero Beach. Mr. OConnor was a Disabled American Veteran, serving in the US Navy as a 2nd Class MM during the Korean War. He had been employed by First Union Bank in Connecticut and then FPL at the St. Lucie Nuclear Plant prior to his retirement. He was a member of the American Legion Post #166 in Massachusetts and the Knights of Columbus in Connecticut.
Survivors include his wife of 48 years Theresa OConnor of Vero Beach; sons Jeremiah OConnor of Orlando, FL, Michael OConnor of Tampa, FL and Daniel OConnor of Reno, NV; daughter Ann Nipper of St. Petersburg, FL; brothers John Dennis OConnor of Dartmouth. MA and James Francis OConnor of Cape Cod, MA; and eight grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a sister Katherine Whitehead.
Services: The family will receive friends 4-7 PM, June 14, 2008 at Cox-Gifford-Seawinds Funeral Home in Vero Beach. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10 AM, Monday, June 16, 2008 at St. John of the Cross Catholic Church in Vero Beach. Interment with military honors provided by VFW Post 3918 will follow at Crestlawn Cemetery in Vero Beach.
