IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Jessie Loraine
Peterson
November 5, 1921 – July 8, 2024
Jessie Loraine Peterson, aged 102, of Vero Beach, FL, passed away peacefully on Monday, July 8, 2024.
Born in Syracuse, NY, to Sherman and Hattie Forsyth, Jessie was one of seven children in a loving and close-knit family. She graduated from North High School in 1940, where she was known for her bright spirit and dedication. In 1942, she married the love of her life, John H. Peterson, embarking on a beautiful journey together. They were blessed with five wonderful children, each a testament to their enduring love and partnership.
Jessie had a remarkable career, contributing to Syracuse China and Carrier before retiring from New York Telephone in 1986. Her work ethic and dedication were admired by all who knew her. After retiring, Jessie moved to Vero Beach, Florida, embracing the sunshine and warmth of her new community.
Jessie was predeceased by her beloved husband, John H. Peterson Jr.; her cherished daughter, Jeanne Reese; and her dear grandson, James R. Peterson. She is survived by her brother, Sherman Forsyth of Goffstown, NH; her sons, James (Avis) Peterson of Central Square, NY, and Charles (Colleen) Peterson of Vero Beach, FL; and her daughters, Janice Tucci and Jacqueline Gallagher, both of Vero Beach, FL. Jessie was the proud grandmother of 10 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great grandchildren - with another great-great-grandchild soon to join the family. She leaves behind many nieces, nephews, and countless friends who were touched by her kindness and generosity.
In accordance with her wishes, Jessie made her final arrangements with Cox-Gifford Seawinds Funeral Home, opting for cremation and no formal services. We honor her wishes and celebrate her life quietly and privately. In her memory, we invite you to donate to your favorite charity, carrying forward her spirit of generosity and compassion.
Jessie Loraine Peterson will be deeply missed but forever remembered by all who were fortunate enough to know her.
