Obit: Joan Elizabeth Labore Sandow

Joan Elizabeth Labore Sandow, 69, of Pisgah Forest, NC died Saturday, August 20, 2011 at the Royal Palm Convalescent & Rehabilitation Center in Vero Beach.

Mrs. Sandow was born February 11, 1942 in Stamford, CT and was a part-time resident of Vero Beach and Pisgah Forest for the past 6 ½ years.

Prior to her retirement she was a Realtor for 35 years in Stamford, CT and active in the Republican Town Committee. Joan was an avid gardener and president of the homeowners association at Laurel Lake Estates in Pisgah Forest.

Joan was of the Catholic faith.

Survivors include her husband of 40 years, William Sandow of Pisgah Forest and Vero Beach; two sons William D. Sandow of New York City, NY and Thomas Hale Long of Canton, GA; daughter Terri Davis of Hendersonville, NC; two sisters Diane Labore of Meridan, CT and Carol Labore of Westhaven, CT; and five grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a brother Ted Labore.

Services: A wake will be held at the Leo P. Gallagher and Son Funeral Home 2900 Summer Street, Stamford, CT between 4 and 8 PM, Monday, August 29, 2011. A mass will take place at St. Mary's Catholic Church also in Stamford at 10:00AM, Tuesday, August 30, 2011.
