John Allen, affectionately known as Jack, passed peacefully in the comfort of his own home, with his loving wife Eleanor by his side, on Wednesday evening, October 24, 2018.

Jack was born in New York City in 1932, lived in Rockaway Beach and Howard Beach, New York until he retired to Spanish Lakes Country Club Village in Fort Pierce, Florida in 2000.  He served with distinction in the US Army during the Korean War as part of the Military Police.  Jack graduated from the American Institute of Baking in Chicago and worked over 45 years in the Commercial Baking Industry as Plant Operations Manager.

During his school years he was a formidable athlete where he competed in basketball and track.  He later enjoyed bowling and golfing.  In the Spanish Lakes Community, he played bocce and served as chairman of the Bocce Rules Committee, was a member of the Veteran's Club and served on the Dance Committee. Jack loved to travel with his wife and friends to many parts of the world.  He especially enjoyed taking cruises.

Jack was a loving and giving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend. He is survived by his wife Eleanor, children Kathy (Tony), Jack (Tonya), and Tom (Mary), his sister Madeline and his six grandchildren, Ashley, Chris, Nick, Sydney, Patrick, and Megan.  He also leaves many dear relatives and friends who will remember his great sense of humor and quick wit.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 AM, Monday, November 5, 2018 at St. Helen Catholic Church, Vero Beach, followed by Military Honors. Interment will take place at a later date at Cape Canaveral National Cemetery in Mims, FL.
