Bahl
July 19, 1943 – January 21, 2021
John Charles Bahl (b 1943) passed away on January 21st at his home in Vero Beach, FL. He was preceded in death by his parents, Margaret Hilberg Bahl and Charles D. Bahl MD.
He is survived by two sons, Forrest John Bahl II (Amy) (Palm Beach, FL) and William F. Bahl II (Vero Beach, FL). He leaves three grandchildren. He is survived by a sister and brother, Martha Bahl Grant (Andrew) and William F. Bahl (Katherine), both living in Cincinnati.
He also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. John attended Clifton School and Hughes High School. He earned a Bachelor's of Science degree from the University of Arizona in 1965. He also graduated from the Stonier Graduate School of Banking at Rutgers University in 1972.
He married Peggy, the love of his life, in 1965 until her untimely death in 1986.
While in Cincinnati he and Peggy were very active in various civic organizations. He was First Vice President, Commercial Loan Officer at Provident Bank from 1967-1977. He then moved to Florida as the President, Sun Banks-Treasure Coast (Ft. Lauderdale - Melbourne) until his retirement.
During his tenure at Sun Banks he expanded his bank's deposit base by more than fourfold.
In retirement, he enjoyed watching his grandchildren grow and develop. Later in life he was fortunate to find the second love of his life, Martha Burgos. They married and had several happy years together travelling the world.
His hobby late in life was tending to over 60 varieties of exotic orchids.
A service to celebrate his life will be held at 2PM on March 30, 2023 at Vero Beach Country Club.
