John Warren Brewer, Jr., 76, died Sunday, June 19, 2011 in Rockledge, FL. John was born in Boston, MA in 1935 to the late John W. and Louise B. Brewer. He attended Thayer Academy in Braintree, MA and Univ. of Massachusetts-Amherst. He served in the U.S. Army specializing in guided missiles. After military service in Germany, where he made many friends, he came to FL in 1966 and was employed at Kennedy Space Center for 29 years.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Juanita; sister, Ann Toole of Long Beach, CA; sons, Jay and Chris Brewer; daughters, Kathryn and Elizabeth Brewer; 5 grandchildren, Tristan, Joshua, Keller Brewer of Orlando, FL, Katie and Nathanial Dobbs of Perrysburg, OH; and many adoring nieces and nephews.
He was an active member of the Boy Scouts of America for 23 years, serving in Troop 300 of Melbourne, FL. He was awarded a NASA Silver Snoopy Award and volunteered for many years at Ascension Catholic Church.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in his honor on Saturday, June 25, 2011 at 12 pm at Ascension Catholic Church, Melbourne, FL.
Inurnment will take place at a later date in St. Pauls Cemetery, Hingham, MA.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Thayer Academy in Braintree, MA or Ascension Catholic School Endowment Fund.
