Obit- John George Burns, Sr.
John George Burns, 92, of Melbourne, Fl., died Saturday February 7, 2009 at Holmes Regional Medical Center surrounded by his family.
Mr. Burns was born on April 9, 1916 in Ireland had been a resident of Melbourne for 32 years coming from Queens, NY.
Prior to retirement, he was an accountant with Union Carbide Corporation,. He was parishioner
at Ascension Catholic Church, a member of the Knights of Columbus, and a member of VFW 4026. He served in the US Army during WWII and was a survivor of the invasion of Normandy.
He is survived by sons, John G. Burns, Jr., and Kevin Burns; stepsons Edward Sweeney, Jr. and Robert Sweeney; stepdaughters, Barbara Rymanowski, Patricia Ashley, Melbourne, Fl., and Kathleen Larkin; grandchildren, Keith, Krista, Rachel, Casey, Bear, Charlie, Ryan, Michael, Justin, Gary, and Katy; and numerous great-grandchildren and many families in Ireland.
A Vigil Service will be held at Davis-Seawinds Funeral Home & Crematory, Tuesday, February 10, 2009 from 6-7 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday, February 11, 2009 at Ascension Catholic Church at 10:30 AM with burial to follow at Melbourne City Cemetery.
