John Matthew Corbliss (Jimmie Boy), 79, of Jensen Beach, FL died Sunday, January 2, 2011 at his home.
Mr. Corbliss was born May 5, 1931 in Jersey City, NJ and lived in Battle Creek, MI, Flint,MI, Miami, FL before retiring to Jensen Beach 20 years ago.
He had been the Financial Director of the City of Battle Creek, Flint and South Miami Before his retirement. Mr. Corbliss was a member of St. Philip Catholic Church and St. Martin de Porres Catholic Church, where he served as a usher at both parishes. He was associated with the Elks Lodge, Moose Lodge, Knights of Columbus, VFW, Exchange Club and served as a volunteer with numerous community outreach programs. He was a veteran of the Korean War, serving in the US Marine Corps.
Survivors include his son John Corbliss of Ohio, daughter Cynthia G Mathis (Donnie) of Jackson, MI; sisters Mary Bellini (Vince) of Manahawkin, NJ, Jean Romanowski of Long Beach Township, NJ and Betty (Donald) Bulwicz of Hasbrouck Heights, NJ; and grandchildren, John Mathis of Cleveland, OH, Jacqueline Mathis of Jackson, MI, and Valerie Corbliss of Battle Creek, MI, and many nieces and nephews, all who will miss him very much.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 53 years Gail Corbliss, beloved son Gregory Corbliss and great-granddaughter Amaree Gail Mathis.
A memorial mass will be celebrated 12:30pm Friday, January 14, 2011 at St. Phillips Catholic Church,112 Capital Avenue NE, Battle Creek, MI 49017. Interment to follow at Fort Custer National Cemetery, 15501 Dickman Rd., Augusta, MI 49012
