Obituary

John "Jack" A. Doyle, 80, of Fort Pierce, passed away on Tuesday, February 26, 2013 at the Treasure Coast Hospice House. Mr. Doyle was born May 7, 1932 in Brooklyn, NY. He had been a resident of Fort Pierce since 2006, coming from Brooklyn. Prior to his retirement he worked as a homicide detective for the New York City Police Department's 19th Precinct for 14 years. He was of the Catholic faith, and was a member of the Holy Cross Choir in Brooklyn. Jack was also a member of the Elks Lodge, and the American Legion. Jack volunteered his time performing at the Pineapple Playhouse in Fort Pierce, and other local organizations. Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Catherine Doyle of Fort Pierce; sons, Jack Doyle of Sunset Beach, NC and Daniel R. Doyle of Mesa, AZ; daughters, Susan Champlin of Lagrangeville, NY, Catherine Wisseman of Lagrangeville, NY, Patricia Kennedy of Millbrook, NY, and Lori Tompkins of Holmes, NY; sister, Dorothy O'Reilly of Brooklyn, NY; fourteen grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Services are planned for a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to the St. Jude Children's Hospital at 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
