John F. O'Donnell, 79, of Vero Beach, FL died February 6, 2008 at the Atlantic Health Care Center in Vero Beach.
Mr. ODonnell was born May 15 1928 in Medina, New York and moved to Vero Beach in 1989 from Boston, MA.
He attended the University of Notre Dame and graduated Magna Cum Laude in 1949 then went on to receive his Masters and Doctor of Science degrees from MIT in 1955. His career started with the Dupont and Kordite companies before he founded two scientific firms in Boston. After moving to Vero Beach he and his son started a small investment company. He enjoyed tennis, skiing and jogging all his active life. Mr. ODonnell was a devoted member of St. Helen Catholic Church where he helped start The Mens Study Group.
Survivors include his wife of 55 years Mary Feeney ODonnell of Vero Beach; daughter Ellen of Bethesda, MD; son David ODonnell of Vero Beach and two granddaughters.
Mr. ODonnell was predeceased by a son James in 1992.
Services: A Mass will be celebrated 12 Noon, Monday, February 11, 2008 at St. Helen Catholic Church in Vero Beach followed by a reception for family and friends. Interment will be in Medina, NY.
