John Harvey Humpstone of Vero Beach, Florida, formerly of Locust Valley, NY, died on September 30, 2017 at the age of 89. Affectionately known as Harvey, he was born in Brooklyn, NY, and educated at The Buckley School, Gilman, and Williams College. He worked for over two decades at Bowne & Co., including 11 years as General Manager of its subsidiary Legal Systems. Harvey was a trustee of the Village of Lattingtown for 36 years and a board member of Portledge School for eight years. He served on the vestry and then as a warden of St John's of Lattingtown for five years.

Harvey was predeceased by his loving wife of 45 years, Jane Armstrong Humpstone, and by his son, John H. Humpstone, III. He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth Kiernan Humpstone, two daughters, Katherine of New York, and Jane of Washington, DC, and by his brother, Charles of South Woodstock, VT. He is also survived by three step children and six grandchildren. Services pending. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. John's of Lattingtown or Hospice House of Vero Beach.
