John W. Kmetz, 82,  of Barefoot Bay Florida passed away on Wednesday May 15, 2019 at VNA Hospice House. John was born on December 18, 1932 in Passaic New Jersey , the son of the late John and Gertrude Kmetz,  a veteran of the US Navy and a member of the Fraternal Order of the Eagles in Stroudsburg, PA and the Fraternal Order Orioles in Micco, FL.

John spent many years as a resident of Tannersville Pennsylvania, employed as a mechanic for Roadway Express until he retired and relocated to "the Bay".

John loved playing bluegrass music, singing and telling stories. John was a person who always had time to listen and spent much of his life caring for people who needed a helping hand. John was a "best friend" to his beloved dog Bacardi.

John was married to the late Ruth Ann Kmetz. He is survived by his daugher Debra Caron, wife of George Caron, his son William Kmetz, husband of Mariann Kmetz. He was preceded in death by a son John Kmetz. He also had 5 grandchildren John, Thomas, Laura, Kelly and Andrew.

John will be interred at Laurelwood Cemetery in Stroudsburg, PA. A private memorial service will be held for family members at a later date.
