John Richard Knight, 62, of Vero Beach passed away on Wednesday, October 03, 2012 at the Indian River Medical Center.

Mr. Knight was born December 6, 1949 and had been a lifetime resident of Vero Beach. He worked as a citrus grower and mechanic, and was self employed.

He graduated from Vero Beach High School in 1968. After high school he attended the Nashville Auto-Diesel College in Nashville, TN and graduated in 1969.

He served in the United States Navy Reserves from 1970 to 1974, and served active duty during the Vietnam War.

John was a member of the Vero Beach Vets, the NRA and the American Legion.

Survivors include his mother, Margaret "Peggy" Knight of Vero Beach and his brothers, Robert L. Knight and David A. Knight, both of Vero Beach.

He was preceded in death by his father, Lloyd S. Knight.

A funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, October 5, 2012 at Cox Gifford Seawinds Funeral Home and Crematory in Vero Beach. Burial will follow at Crestlawn Cemetery.
