Obit: John V. Little
John V. Little, 86, of Vero Beach, FL died Monday, January 31, 2011 at the VNA Hospice House in Vero Beach.
Mr. Little was born December 15, 1924 in Cincinnati, OH of Ruth Fernley and Vernon Little. The family moved to Allipattah in Miami in the late 1920's. John attended Allipattah Elementary (the housed in Jackson Sr. High School) and graduated form Jackson.
He was a 1953 graduate of the University of Florida in Gainesville, FL and was a veteran of WW II, serving in the US Navy where he attended the V12 Program at LSU and eventually served on PT boats and the minesweeper YMS159. Following the war, he married Juanita Nort of North Miami.
He moved to Vero Beach in 1973 from Stamford, CT and married Barbara Dietrich in 1987, his wife of 24 years, whom he loved dearly.
Mr. Little was employed by Florida Power and Light, the City of New Smyrna Beach, Citizens Utilities (Stamford, CT)., and was also a founding member of the Florida Municipal Power Agency. He was the City Manager for the City of Vero Beach, from 1973 until 1991, and served as the Director of the Vero Beach Electrical Utilities before retiring. After retiring he served as a consultant and then Administrator for the City of Fellsmere. He was a member of the Church of God in Vero Beach.
His survivors include his wife Barbara Little of Vero Beach; two sons Stephen Little of Ithaca, NY and Jeffrey Little of Vero Beach; a daughter Patricia Little of Vero Beach; two step-sons John Beaucher of Rowley, MA and Richard Beaucher of Sebastian, FL; and two step-daughters Denise Beaucher and Andrea Fifield both of Pittsfield, NH.
Service: A celebration of life for Mr. Little will take place at the First Church of God at a later date.
