Obituary

John Ronald Morgan, 95, of Vero Beach, died Tuesday March 14, 2023 at home with family present.
He is survived by his children Vincent F (Diane), John R Jr (Kyoko) and Angela L as well as his grandsons Patrick M and Gregory M.  He is predeceased by his wife, Maria Carmen Vasquez, his parents, his three brothers, Joseph, Vincent and Loren, and his son Richard C.
He was born to the late Vincent and Ada Morgan on August 4, 1927 in Brooklyn, NY.  He enlisted in the military at age 17, with his parents' permission and served from May, 1945 to August, 1946 in the Navy.  He earned both The American Theater Medal and the Victory medal and was honorably discharged.
He finished high school after leaving the Navy and graduated from Midwood High School in NY.  He then attended the University of Miami where he received a Bachelor of Arts in Hispanic-American Studies in 1951.  It was there that he met his wife, Carmen.  They were married in Puerto Rico, her home, on August 16, 1952.  They were married 54 years at the time of her death.  They loved to travel and due to his work lived in many places including Atlanta, GA, New Orleans, LA and even Columbia, South America.  He and Carmen finally settled in Vero Beach in the early 1990's.
John spent his career as a salesman for various companies including Moody's Investors, International General Electric and Braniff International Airways.  He later became a stock broker and retired around age 80.
He loved music, had a wonderful singing voice and loved singing the oldies.  He also loved to dance to big band music and was a regular at the Vero Beach Community Center Friday dances along with his friend of 9 years, Jean Peter.  He also loved to read and even in his last weeks was telling his family of books he had recently read.  He could speak, read and write Spanish fluently and was often told by native speakers that he had an excellent vocabulary and accent.
He will be missed by many, especially his family and his friend Jean.
