John Louis Quesnel, 92 of Barefoot Bay, FL died Wednesday, February 3, 2010 after a courageous battle with emphysema at Sebastian River Medical Center, Sebastian, FL.
John was born on February 14, 1917 in Moose Creek Ontario Canada to Blanche and Eli Quesnel. Shortly after his birth, the Quesnel family moved to Leister, VT. He served in the 28th artillery division in WWII. He married Anita Berger in 1943 and they owned a farm in Panton, VT for 18 years. They then moved to Vergennes, VT where he was a contractor. He built several homes in and around Vergennes upon retiring, they moved to Barefoot Bay, FL.
He was a member of the St. Lukes Catholic Church, Barefoot Bay, FL; the American Legion Post 14 in Vergennes, VT for many years. He also was a member of the Lions Club in Vergennes and Barefoot Bay where he was an extremely, enthusiastic participant in many Lions Club activities. He received over the years many awards including recognition for 42 years of perfect attendance. He loved the outdoors, was an avid hunter and he loved to fish.
He leaves his wife Anita of 66 years, a daughter Linda (Matt) Mathews of Tampa, FL, a son David (Kathy) Quesnel of Columbia, MD, six grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, 3 sisters Lena Mae (Dick) Polzello of CT, Claudette (Howie) Parker of VT, Anita Brooks of VT; as well as several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by six sisters and one brother.
There will be no calling hours and the service will be private.
