John Mills Spelder, 86, of Fort Pierce, died Wednesday, January 25, 2017 with his family by his side.
He was born of the late John and Janet Spelder on August 31, 1930 in Buffalo, NY. John graduated from Bennett High School in 1949 and received his BA in Business from Bowling Green University in 1958. He joined the Navy during the Korean War and served for four years from 1950 to 1954.
John married Corinne Hopps in 1954 and they lived together in Buffalo, NY before later relocating between Syracuse, NY and Port Saint Lucie, FL to spend time with their grandchildren.
John was a Sales Manager with Wendt's Dairy in Niagara Falls, NY until he retired in 1993. He also enjoyed working at a nursery which was more like a hobby to him.
He enjoyed music, gardening, sports, traveling and spending time with his grandchildren.
John is survived by his loving wife Corinne, and his three children, Jeffrey Spelder, Douglas Spelder, and Sue Abbarno as well as his Brother Robert Spelder. He is also survived by four grandchildren.
A memorial service was held on January 28, 2017 at First United Methodist Church in Vero Beach, Florida.
