John T. Tellis, 93 of Vero Beach, FL died Tuesday, August 3, 2010 at the VNA Hospice House in Vero Beach.
Mr. Tellis was born on March 11, 1917 in Union Springs, Alabama and moved to Vero Beach in 1958 from Kissimmee, FL.
He was in the Citrus Industry employed with Groves Brothers and Marshall Barnes. He was a member of the Community Baptist Church of Gifford, Pastor Clifford Warren presiding, he was a member in the choir where he sang faithfully until his health failed.
Survivors include his children, John Tellis, Jr, Grace Tellis, Margaret Rea Tellis, all of Union Springs, Alabama, Walter Tellis, Rufus Tellis, Mattie B. Williams, all of Warwick, Georgia, step-son Charles Hope, Sr. of Phenix City, Alabama, Zeldra Cato of Palm Bay, FL, Annie Mills of Knoxville, TN, Berma Green of Vero Beach and a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his wife Maxie Tellis.
Services: The family will receive friends from 1-3 pm on Saturday, August 7, 2010 at Cox-Gifford-Seawinds Funeral Home, 1950 20th Street, Vero Beach, FL. A graveside service will follow at 3:30 pm at Crestlawn Cemetery in Vero Beach.
