John William "Uncle Bill" Zilg, 92 of Vero Beach, passed away on January 24, 2018 at Indian River Medical Center. He was born November 23, 1925 to Margaret and John Zilg in Dunellen, NJ where he was raised. A graduate of Dunellen High School, he went on to graduate from Rutgers University where he obtained a BA Degree. He served in the US Navy during WWII. Bill was employed by The Singer Company for over 35 years as an engineer, retiring in 1984. After his retirement he went on to be a consultant for several years.

In 1987 he retired to Vero Beach where he was a member of the Vero Beach Power Squadron and The Moorings Yacht Club. He had been an avid snow skier, and enjoyed fishing and boating.

Preceded in death by his brother, George Zilg and his sister, Marie Flinn, he is survived by his nephews, Richard, Robert and John Zilg; Richard, Tom, and Chris Flinn; and niece Patty Fiore; and many great nieces and nephews. He will be sorely missed.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM, Monday, January 29, 2018 at Cox Gifford Seawinds Funeral Home with a prayer service at 6:00 PM.
