Joseph H. Davis, 88, of Fort Pierce, Florida, passed away February 26, 2019, at Lawnwood Regional Medical Center.

He was born February 14, 1931, in Niles, OH and had been a resident of Fort Pierce for 25 years, coming from Niles.

Mr. Davis was a veteran of the United States Army, having served 2 years in Germany. While in Germany, Joe played Triple-A baseball for the United States Army baseball team.

He worked 29 years as a machine operator for General Electric's Niles Glass Plant.

Mr. Davis was a member of St Helen Catholic Church, Vero Beach. He was an avid sports fan (Cleveland Browns, Indians, O-H and Notre Dame) and enjoyed playing golf. He was and will always be an amazing husband, father, friend, mentor, coach, storyteller and peacemaker. The next time you're with family and friends or complete strangers, "belly up to the bar", raise a glass and "talk about chickens" – there might even be alcohol involved.

He leaves his memories to be cherished by his wife of 64 years, Lucille C. Davis; children, Joseph T. (Valarie) Davis of Lakeland, FL, Thomas W. (Jill) Davis of Cortland, OH, Lawrence E. (Kimberly) Davis of Raleigh, NC and Susan M. (A.J.) Fritz of Warren, OH; sister, Grace Norman of Niles, OH; grandchildren, Emily Gulley, Jonathan Davis, Tami Morrison, Traci Zager, James Davis, Kathryn Davis, Sarah Davis, and Chance Davis; great-grandchildren, Paxton Gulley, Wyatt Gulley, Callahan Davis, Webber Davis, and Clara Jean Morrison. He was predeceased by his brothers, Robert Davis, William Davis, James Davis, Thomas Davis and his twin brother, John Davis and two sisters, Marie Reiter and Dorothy Conklin.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 12:00 noon, Friday, March 8, 2019, at St. Helen Catholic Church, Vero Beach. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, www.cancer.org, St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, www.stjude.org or simply do something nice for somebody.
