John Stephen Doane, affectionately known as "Steve," 77, of Vero Beach, passed away on June 30, 2026, at Cleveland Clinic Hospital in Vero Beach.

Steve was born on November 5, 1948, in Waterloo, New York, to Hartley and Mildred Doane. He served honorably in the United States Army and was a proud member of American Legion Post 39 in Vero Beach.

Steve had a passion for fishing, horses, and spending time with his many friends at the American Legion. Above all, he cherished his beloved dogs, Midget and Dutches.

He is survived by his loving wife, Constance; his son, Stephen "Scooter" Doane (Carla); his stepsons, Rick Little (Cindy) and Jim Little (Connie); his stepdaughter, Tonya Maybee (Matt); and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 2, 2026, at American Legion Post 39, 1535 Old Dixie Highway, Vero Beach, FL 32960.

Military honors will be rendered by the United States Army Honor Guard and the Sebastian Area Veterans' Honor Guard.
