Joseph Charles Yurko, Sr.,77, of Vero Beach, FL died Tuesday, January 15, 2008 at the Veterans Administration Hospital in West Palm Beach, FL following a lengthy illness.
Mr Yurko was born April 19, 1930 in Youngstown, OH and moved to Vero Beach in 1986 from Lakeland, FL.
He was a veteran of the Korean War, serving in the US Navy, and had worked for Piper Aircraft Co. in Vero Beach before his retirement. Mr. Yurko was a member and usher of St. Helen Catholic Church in Vero Beach, an honorary life member of the Knights of Columbus, and a former member of the Polish Legion of American Veterans Post 210. He was a member of the Polish American Club.
Survivors include his wife of 56 years Helen Yurko of Vero Beach; daughter and son-in-law Susan and Robert Goad of Lakeland, FL; and son Joseph Yurko, Jr. of Vero Beach.
He was predeceased by his parents Joseph and Mary Yurcho; stepmother Christina Yurcho; brother Stephen Yurcho, sisters Anna Peterson, Mary Rozick, Helen Baksa, Margaret Kerpsack and Betty Rhodes; stepbrother Dr. Charles Paros; and a grandson James Matthew Goad.
Services: A Rosary service will take place at 11:40 AM with Mass being celebrated 12 Noon, January 26, 2008 at St. Helen Catholic Church in Vero Beach, FL with military honors by VFW Post 3918.
