Obituary

Joyce Ann Bishop, 83 of Vero Beach, passed away May 2, 2015 at The Brennity of Vero Beach. Born March 6, 1932 in Akron, Ohio to Leland E. and Marguerite McKinley Spencer, she graduated from Hood College and worked as a secretary for Buckingham Wheeler Insurance Agency, remaining a homemaker after the birth of her 5 children in Vero Beach for the last 58 years.

Joyce was proudly married to Dick Bishop for 40 years until his death in 1996 then met Bruce Hubbs and traveled back and forth to Canada until April, 2015. She spent her time during her marriage as a proud mother, grandmother, great grandmother and great-great grandmother. She was an avid golfer and long standing member of the Vero Beach Country Club, where she served on the Board of Directors in 1989, she was First Flight winner in 1989 and Women's Club Champion in 1974.

Preceded in death by her husband, Richard T. "Dick" Bishop and her son Bruce Kevin Bishop, she is survived by her sons Geoff, Tim (wife Marie) of Vero Beach, Bob (wife Silvana) of Cornelius, NC and daughter, Christie Ann Curtis (husband Scott) of Midland, NC. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Wayne Michael Bishop (wife Stephanie), Sabrina Bishop Selman (husband Senad), Lindsey Bishop Blair (husband Jason) and Justin Bishop (wife Tiffany), Kalyn and Kyleigh Bishop, Megan and Joshua Curtis, Kate Curtis Walser and great grandchildren Dominic and Madison Bishop, Steven, Clayton, Corbin and Trinity Bishop, Ezekiel and Elias Bishop, Ilhan Selman, Kayla Curtis, Emma, Jaxson, Cash, Briggs and Theodore Walser, great-great grandchild Tanner Kleimish, along with many wonderful nieces and nephews she traveled to see.

The family will receive friends from 3:00 until 4:00 PM, and a Celebration of her life will follow at 4:00 PM, Saturday, April 9, 2015 at Cox-Gifford-Seawinds Funeral Home in Vero Beach.

Memorial donations may be sent to VNA Hospice or the Women's Refuge. You may also honor Joyce and Dick by helping to plant a memorial tree at the Vero Beach Country Club.
