Julia Eloisa Calix, formerly Reyes, of Vero Beach, Florida, peacefully passed into heaven on May 8, surrounded by loved ones, including her beloved son Michael and his wife Deysi. Julia, known affectionately as Julie, was born in San Juan, Puerto Rico, and moved to New York City with her family in 1947 after the untimely death of her father, José Reyes.
Julie was a woman of remarkable accomplishment and character. She earned her CPA and went on to receive an MBA from Fordham University. Julie dedicated her career to serving others as an administrator of finance at a nursing home. Her work touched the lives of many, reflecting her caring and compassionate nature.
Julie was cherished by all who knew her. She was a beloved sister to Maria, Joe, and Bruni, a loving mother to Michael, Joseph, and Anthony, a devoted grandmother to Jasmine, Stephanie, Desirée, Tara, Jessica and Jennifer and a proud great-grandmother to Sophia, Morgan, Lily, Dominic, James, Colton, and Emmalyn.
Julie will be remembered for her kindness, her generosity, and her unwavering love for her family and friends. Her legacy of love and compassion will continue to inspire all who knew her.
In accordance with Julie's wishes, she will be cremated, and her ashes will be interred at a place chosen by her. In lieu of flowers, Julie requested that donations be made to the American Lung Association at action.lung.org.
A mass in remembrance of Julie will be held on Friday, June 7, 2024 at 2 pm at St. John of the Cross Catholic Church, 7550 26th St, Vero Beach, FL 32966. Her memory will forever be cherished in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know her. May she rest in peace.
Her family wishes all who have an anecdote they wish to share please submit it.
