Surrounded by her loving family, Karen Colleen Smith of Vero Beach died Sunday, December 17, 2017 at the age of 65. Colleen lost her 14 year-long battle with breast cancer at Indian River Medical Center.

She was born at Memorial Hospital in Chattanooga, Tennessee to the late Charles Grady Smith and Eloise Smith Hawthorne, of Bridgeport AL, on October 25, 1952. She was the youngest of their four children. Her brothers Charles Smith, Jr.  and Lanny Smith preceded her in death. Her sister Kay (Smith) Brown resides in Higdon, Alabama.

Colleen graduated from Bridgeport High School in 1971 and married William Edward Smith of South Pittsburg, Tennessee on August 12, 1972.

She is survived by her husband William Smith of Vero Beach, and their four daughters, Misty Smith, Melinda Gallant, Angela Bosman, and Rebecca Smith.  She is also survived by her seven grandchildren Christina Jones, Kylie Mitchell, Allie Mitchell, Danica Gallant, Braegan Gallant, Christian Hampton, William Bosman, Charleigh Bosman and one great-grandson Eli Owens.

There will be a celebration of life on December 30, 2017 at St. Augustine of Canterbury Episcopal Church at 475 43 ^rd Avenue, Vero Beach, FL 32962 from 5:00-7:00PM.

She will be laid to rest this summer at Hooker Cemetery in Wildwood, Georgia. Details to follow.
