Katharine T. Johnson, 72, of Vero Beach and Lewisburg, WVa., died Aug. 28, 2008 after a long illness.
Mrs. Johnson, a wife, artist, mother and grandmother, was born in Seattle, Wa. on July 23, 1936.
She served as co-chairwoman of the Vero Beach Flower Show, and co-chairwoman of the Vero Beach Art Club's Under the Oaks art show. Mrs. Johnson also taught at the Vero Beach Museum of Art.
She was a graduate of the University of Arizona, receiving a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree and was a member of the Pastel Society of America,the Quail Valley Club in Vero Beach and the Riomar Bay Yacht Club.
She is preceded in death by her father and mother, C.O. and Margaret Thompson of Villa Park, Ca. and her brother, Michael Thompson of Orange, Ca.
Survivors include her husband of 50 years, Rodolph L. Johnson of Vero Beach and Lewisburg, WVa. Four children and their spouses: Buck and Rhonda Johnson of Tampa, Fla.; Mark and Beverly Johnson of Edgewater, Fla.; Kit and Lundy Fields, and Charlie and Helen Johnson, both of Vero Beach. And nine grandchildren, Ann and Emily Johnson; Katy and Mike Vogelaar, Vicky, Lissa and Caroline Fields; and Will, Bo and Mac Johnson
A memorial service is planned for Sept. 13, at Trinity Episcopal Church in Vero Beach, Fla., with a private burial to follow.
