Kathleen Rose Washawanny, 85, of Vero Beach, died Sunday, March 20, at Atlantic Health and Rehabilitation.
She was born in Bayonne, NJ on October 24, 1930 to the late Thomas Reilly and Irene Lucas. Kathleen graduated from Holy Family Catholic high school and worked for Chase National Bank in New York City. She was married to the late George Washawanny on June 13, 1953. They moved to Vero Beach in 1989, where they lived in retirement. She resided at Solaris Senior Living as of 2011.
She enjoyed participating in civic activities and had a life-long passion for political issues. She worked at the election polls and volunteered for the election campaign in 1980 of then presidential candidate Ronald Reagan. She also enjoyed serving on jury duty.
She is survived by her daughters, Clare Sheenan and husband, Timothy Sheenan of Middlesex, NJ, Elaine Washawanny-Daley and her husband, William Daley of Tinton Falls, NJ, Cecile Glenn and her husband, A. Joseph Glenn, of Riverview, FL and Annette Tierney and her husband, William Tierney of Valrico, FL. She also is survived by five grandchildren and 1 great grandchild.
Visitation will be held on Monday, March 28, at 10:00 a.m. at Cox Gifford Seawinds Funeral Home followed by a service at 11:00 a.m.
