Kenneth M. Snader, PHD, age 85, of Vero Beach, Florida, passed from this life on Friday, May 19, 2023, at the Cleveland Clinic Indian River Hospital in Vero Beach.

Born on April 6, 1938, in Connellsville, Pennsylvania, he was the son of the late Kenneth M. and Thelma (Means) Snader.

Dr. Snader received his Bachelor of Science degree at the Philadelphia College of Pharmacy and Science.  While working at SmithKline & French pharmaceutical company in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, he earned the KARR Fellowship and attended Massachusetts Institute of Technology where he earned his Doctorate Degree.  Dr. Snader later joined SeaPharm, an arm of Johnson & Johnson, at the Harbor Branch Campus in Ft. Pierce, Florida.  Following this, he was honored to take a position with the National Institutes of Health and National Cancer Institute where he participated in research of AIDS and cancer pharmaceuticals, specifically contributing to the development of Taxol. Throughout his lifetime, Dr. Snader was awarded with numerous patents for pharmaceutical and cancer medications.

During his retirement, he enjoyed RV travel across the United States with his wife and helped homeschool his grandchildren in science.  He also spent 10 years teaching the "Pairs & Spares" Sunday School class at The First Methodist Church in Vero Beach.

Dr. Snader is survived by his wife of 63 years, Shirley Snader; three children, Kimberly Snader, Kenneth Snader, Jr. and Kris Paige; one brother, Thomas C. Snader; and six grandchildren, James Paige, Brandon Paige, Madeleine Paige Boylan, Mary Katherine Paige, Logan Paige, and Lily Paige.

A memorial service will be held at 10 am on Thursday, May 25, 2023, at The First Methodist Church of Vero Beach, 1750 20th Street.  Rev. Becky Glass-Calahan will officiate.
