LaMoine DOC Glassburn, age 99, died Wednesday, April 13, 2011, at his home. He had been a resident of Okeechobee since 1950.
He owned and operated Docs Auto Service from 1963 until his retirement in 1981. He was a member for over 50 years of the Okeechobee Masonic Lodge #237. Gardening was a favorite pastime of his and he enjoyed relaxing in front of the fireplace. An accomplished harmonica player, he was part of a duel that performed on the radio. Family members were often surprised with a harmonic greeting for their birthdays.
Doc was preceded in death by his wife of 78 years, Carol Mae Glassburn and daughters, Carolyn Blount and Beverly Fulwider.
Survivors include his son, Kim (Janet) Glassburn; son-in-law, Gene Fulwider both of Okeechobee; 11 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.
Services will be held Wednesday, April 20, 2011, graveside at Evergreen Cemetery at 11:00 a.m.
