Benedict, Lamont Roger, Sr. of Sebastian, FL and formerly of Middletown, CT and Windham, CT passed away on Tuesday, May 3, 2011. Born September 17, 1932 to Howard Benedict and Mildred (McCarrick) Benedict, Lamont or "Ben" as he was known by family and friends, was the founder of Benedict Doors of Rocky Hill, CT. He also served the City of Middletown as the Civil Preparedness Director, was a member of the Westfield Fire Department, and served on the Harbor Park Commission. Lamont was also a member of the Elks and a U.S. Army Veteran having served in the Korean War. Lamont is survived by his brother Donald Benedict and his wife, Joan of Prince Frederick, MD, his son Larry Benedict and his wife Cathy of Salem, CT, his daughter Lorene Gwizdak and her husband Robert of Burlington, CT, as well as his grandchildren Larissa Johnson of Higganum, CT, Lacey Shamrock of Titusville, FL, and Stephen Gwizdak of Burlington, CT and beloved Aunt Jeanne in Micco. Lamont was a smart business man and cherished his service to his country and his community. Holy Catfish!, he will be missed.
