Lawrence Larry M. Carter, 96, of Vero Beach, FL died Tuesday, August 11, 2009 at the VNA Hospice House in Vero Beach.
Mr. Carter was born August 17, 1912 in Harlan County, KY and moved to Vero Beach in 1984 from Pembroke Pines, FL.
He received his Bachelors Degree from Moorehead State College and his Masters Degree from the University of Kentucky. Mr. Carter had taught school in Harlan County and Louisville, KY and also in Broward County, FL where he had been a Junior High School Principal. He was a two term member of the Kentucky State Senate (1944 - 1952) and a member of the Kentucky and Florida State Teachers Associations, the Kentucky Club, the First Baptist Church of Vero Beach and Hollywood, FL and had been a Master Mason in Kentucky and Florida.
He is survived by his sisters Nell Stickley of Jonesville, VA and Lydia Kurylo of FL; a niece Clarinda Hollis of Greenville, SC and nephew John Milton Carter of Mousie,KY.
Services: Memorial service will be held at a later date.
