Leland "Bud"
Curtiss
January 15, 1927 – December 31, 2019
Leland "Bud" Curtiss, 92, passed away December 31, 2019 at Lawnwood Regional Medical Center, 4 days after a serious car accident. He was born in Elmira, NY and lived most of his life there. Bud graduated from Thomas Edison High School in 1945, and the day after graduation, he entered the United States Army. He was stationed in Georgia, serving in the Blue Devil Division and was in the 88th Infantry in Italy. He married his wife, Eleanor Nowlan Curtiss on August 27, 1949, and celebrated 70 years together in 2019. Bud built their first house, and was extremely handy with building, repairs and especially electrical. He retired from the New York State Gas & Electric Company in Elmira, NY, as a shift foreman, where he worked for 35 years. Bud and Eleanor moved to Florida in 1989. He enjoyed building and repairing and swimming in the pool, and he was a great help to all of his family, neighbors and friends, and he was known as "Mr. Fixit". He volunteered at the Harbor Branch Oceanographic and was involved with the Boy Scouts. He also volunteered at the churches where his wife Eleanor was the organist.
He is survived by his wife, Eleanor Curtiss of Vero Beach; sons, Gary Lee Curtiss of Seven Lakes , NC and Frank Edwin Curtiss of Carrolton, TX; 8 grandchildren and their spouses and 11 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by 2 sons, Thomas Curtiss who passed away following an accident in 1976, and David Curtiss in 2020.
A memorial service will be held, 3:00 PM, Friday, January 15, 2020 at the Community Church in Vero Beach. The service will be live streamed.

Bud's cremated remains will be interred in Woodlawn Cemetery in Elmira, NY, next to his son, Thomas.
