L. Parker Prescott, 86, died Monday, July 25, 2011, at Raulerson Hospital. Born in Basinger, he was a lifetime resident of Okeechobee.
During WWII, Parker served his country as a member of the U.S. Army. He was a member of the Lions Club of Lorida and the American Legion of LaBelle. An avid football fan, he attended every game possible. He also enjoyed watching television.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Deborah S. Wood; and brothers, Dink, Boy and Billy.
Parker is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Becky; son, Mike (Susie) Wood; granddaughter, Whitney Wood; great-granddaughter, Olivia Wood; and brother, Glenn Prescott, all of Okeechobee.
A memorial service will be held, Thursday, July 28, 2011, at 11 a.m. at the Buxton-Seawinds Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations in Parkers memory be made to Hospice of Okeechobee, P.O. Box 1548, Okeechobee, Florida 34973.
