Leon Richard Correll, 83 years old of Sebastian joined his beautiful wife, Frances, in heaven on May 26,2008.
He was born on November 6,1924, in Laureldale, Pa.
Leon Correll served in WWII from 1943-1945 with the U.S. Air Corps in Corsica as an aerial gunner, bombardier and navigator. He flew 65 combat mission over South Africa and Italy.
Mr. Correll was among the first crew that flew into a hurricane for the Government Agency NOAA. They were honored on June 27th, 2001. It was the 25th anniversary of the first flight.
Mr. Correll's family salutes his courage, bravery, and resolve as Patriot and Hurricane Hunter.

Survivors include his 2 sons, David Kelley of Ft. Wayne, IN, Mark Kelley of Naples, FL; 5 daughters, Theresa Newell of Hudson, FL, Camile Golden of Vero Beach, FL, Janine Bojonowski of Flagstaff, AR.; Linda Whitener of Arnold MO, Lorene Zimmerman of Livingston, MT.; 22 grandchildren , 14 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, a son, Jeffrey Kelley and a daughter, Michelle Upton.
Friends may call from 11:00-1:00 on Friday, May 30, 2008 at Seawinds Funeral Home, Sebastian with services at 1:00 PM Friday. Burial will follow in Sebastian Cemetery.
