Leona Rose Jones, 70, of Heron Cay, Vero Beach, FL, died Monday, August 31, 2009 at the Indian River Medical Center in Vero Beach.
Mrs. Jones was born September 16, 1938 in Johnstown, PA and moved to Vero Beach in 1994 from her place of birth.
She earned her Registered Nurse License from St. Francis Hospital in Pittsburgh, PA and later worked as an RN at Lee Hospital in Johnstown, PA. She was a member of St. John of the Cross Catholic Church in Vero Beach.
Survivors include her husband of 46 years Walter C. Jones, Jr. of Vero Beach; daughter Rose Parkinson of Sebastian, FL; son Walt Jones of Charlotte, NC; son Joe Jones of York, PA; son Herb Jones of Elkton, MD; daughter Jennifer Beam of York, PA; son Andy Jones of Johnstown, PA; brothers Herbert Kessler of Johnston, PA and Bernard Kessler of Anderson, SC; sisters Margaret Hanley of Johnstown, PA and Agnes Urbasik of Vero Beach, FL; and 17 grandchildren
She was predeceased by a son Bernie Jones.
Services: The family will receive friends 6-7 PM Thursday, September 3, 2009 at the Cox-Gifford-Seawinds Funeral Home in Vero Beach with a prayer service beginning at 7 PM. Interment will be at South Florida National Cemetery in Lake Work, FL.
