Leonard "Skin" Copeland, 62, of Vero Beach, FL passed away Monday, March 9, 2015 at Indian River Medical Center.
Leonard was born October 31, 1952 in East St. Louis, IL, son of Elmer and Betty Copeland. He grew up in Collinsville, IL and had been a resident of Vero Beach for 35 years, coming from Collinsville. Skin, as he was referred to, was a carpenter by trade, retiring from Island Tile & Stone. He enjoyed golf, water sports, and was an avid fisherman. He loved to socialize with his friends, family, and even strangers. He was a friendly soul and loved to cook.
Survivors include his wife of 37 years, Deen; daughter, Megan (David) Beasley of Atlanta, GA; son, Devin Copeland of Vero Beach, FL; father, Elmer Copeland of Collinsville, IL; siblings, Eugene (Carol) Long of Trenton, IL, Bonnie ( Timothy) Moyer of Troy, IL, Judy (Michael) Lindhorst of Columbia, IL, and Denise (Raymond) Doyle of St. Charles, MO; brother, Steve (Debbie) Copeland of Eureka, MO; several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. Leonard was predeceased by his mother, Betty Copeland and his sister, Donna Markowski .
The family will receive friends from 4:00 until 6:00 PM, Friday, March 13, 2015 at Cox-Gifford-Seawinds Funeral Home in Vero Beach. A Memorial Service will begin at 6:00 PM.
