Leslie Kneller Coffey
Leslie went to be with the Lord on March 29, 2011. She was born in Washington, DC, on February 14, 1947, the daughter of Chester and Edna Wasser Kneller.
Raised in the suburbs of Chicago and Philadelphia, Leslie graduated with a B.S. in film and television from Boston University.
She used that education to spend her career in advertising, where she was a copywriter, TV producer and associate creative director at the Weightman Group in Philadelphia. Leslie won many advertising awards in both Philadelphia and New York for creative work.
In 1976 she married the love of her life, Charles Coffey. They spent many happy years together living in Philadelphia and Bryn Mawr, PA.
Upon retirement, they spent part of their year at their home in Cat Cay, Bahamas, where they enjoyed fishing on their boat, the Java Lady, a twin engine, which Leslie ran. She was also involved in writing and producing the island newsletter and helping friends re-start the island boutique.
1n 1997, Leslie and Charlie decided to sell their homes and move to Vero Beach, FL where they were members of Christ Church and Bent Pine Golf Club. Wintering in Vero Beach, they enjoyed summer homes first in Hermans Island, Nova Scotia, and then in Brevard, NC.
Leslie will be terribly missed by her beloved husband, Charlie, her father, Chester Kneller of (Chevy Chase, MD) (Vero Beach), her step-son, Butch Coffey of Vero Beach, cousins Dr and Mrs. Steven Mazer of Rockville, MD and many wonderful friends and cousins. Her beautiful dachshund, Gus, will continue to watch for her.
A memorial service will be held at a time and date to be announced.
Interment will be private.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Humane Society of Vero Beach or the VNA Hospice House.
