Lewis O. Fresh, 93, of Vero Beach, FL died Tuesday, December 22, 2009 at the VNA Hospice House in Vero Beach.
Mr. Fresh was born April 29, 1916 in Birdsville, KY and moved to Vero Beach in 1935 from Titusville where he had resided since 1924.
He served in the United States Army during WWII serving in the China, Burma, India Theater as a Surgical Technician and was awarded the Bronze Star Medal. Mr. Fresh was a film projectionist for the Florida Theater for over forty years, a school bus driver in Indian River County and worked for the Road and Bridge Department of the State of Florida Department of Transportation. He was a member of the American Legion and the First Baptist Church in Vero Beach.
Survivors include his son Danny Fresh (Betsy Kurzinger-Fresh) of Vero Beach and brother-in-law John B. and (Audrey) Park.
He was predeceased by his wife of 52 years Joel Deen Fresh, a sister Alliene Taylor, and brothers Alvin, Champ and R.G.
Services: The family will receive friends 5-8 PM, Tuesday, December 29, 2009 at the Cox-Gifford-Seawinds Funeral Home Chapel in Vero Beach. A service will be held 1 PM, Wednesday, December 30, 2009 at First Baptist Church in Vero Beach with the Rev. Derrick West and the Rev. James Graves presiding. Interment will be at Crestlawn Cemetery in Vero Beach.
