Lewis Harry Zell, 81, of Vero Beach, passed away on Thursday, August 23, 2012 at the Indian River Medical Center.
Mr. Zell was born July 8, 1931 in Philadelphia, PA. He had been a resident of Vero Beach since 1997, coming from West Schulyer, NY.
He served in the United States Navy from 1950 to 1954 aboard the USS Franklin D. Roosevelt.
Prior to his retirement Lewis owned and operated his own luncheonette, and his own insurance agency. Later he worked as an auditor, and retired as Premium Audit Manager from the Utica National Insurance Company.
He was the founder and past president of the Old Barney Amateur Radio Club. In 2007 he became an active member of the International Brotherhood of Magicians. He was the past treasure of the Countryside Home Owners Association, and taught a computer club for the Countryside community.
Survivors include his wife of 46 years, Karen of Countryside; son James Zell of Sebastian, FL; daughters Katherine Jacobs of Grant, FL, Cheryl Everill of New Jersey; Gayle Hobbs of California; Donna Dempsy of Connecticut, Karen Enrico of New York; sisters Arlene Brochu and Dee Seigrist; and 16 grandchildren.
