Lionel W. Forbes Jr. 34, of Vero Beach, passed away Tuesday, May 7, 2013 at the Indian River Medical Center.

Mr. Forbes was born January 10, 1979 in Miami, FL. He had been a lifetime resident of Vero Beach.

Lionel was a member of Kappa Kappa Psi fraternity Alpha Chapter Gainesville, FL, he crossed over in 1998. The name of their line was Brick Short. Lionel's was known by his frat brothers as Hot Wheels 10w 40. Lionel was also a graduate of the University of Florida and he was a phenomenal tuba player for the band at the University of Florida. While in college he worked for Melrose Apartments and later for Apartment Hunters. After college Lionel worked in New York as a US customs agent for the Canadian border. After working for the customs he then moved back to Vero Beach where he worked for Omni Financial for a few years. Lionel had a radio show on TenacityRadio, he was known as the Flawda Gator.

Survivors include his father, Lionel W. Forbes Sr. of Miami, FL; mother, Sarah Y. Detelus of Vero Beach, FL; brothers, Joisaint W. Detelus (Jo) of Bensalem, PA; Kevin Clark of West Palm Beach FL; Chris Forbes of Nassau, Bahamas; sisters, Ilana D. Detelus of Vero Beach, FL; Monique Forbes of Nassau, Bahamas; Samantha Russell of Free Port, Grand Bahamas; and his grandmother, Sarah M. Minnis of Wabasso, FL.

Services: The family will receive friends from 4-7 p.m. on Friday, May 17, 2013 at the Cox Gifford Seawinds Funeral Home in Vero Beach. A funeral service will be held at 12 Noon on Saturday, May 18, 2013 at Saint Helen Catholic Church with Chaplain LC Campbell officiating. Inurnment will follow at Wabasso Cemetery.
