Obituary

Joseph Logan Whiddon
October 18, 1952 – December 4, 2024

Joseph Logan Whiddon, known to family and friends as Logan, passed away peacefully in Vero Beach, FL on December 4, 2024, at the age of 72. Born on October 18, 1952, in Vero Beach, he was a son of the late Gladys & Cal Whiddon, Logan was a lifelong resident of the community. He worked for over 20 years at Hogan & Sons, before transitioning to a  fulfilling career with the Indian River County School Board, from which he later retired. Logan had been looking forward to seeing the transformation of the Hogan & Sons location into a brewery, a project that was still underway.

Logan married Linda Howard in 1983, and together they built a family full of love and joy. His faith was a cornerstone of his life, and he read the Bible daily, finding peace and strength in his strong relationship with God. Logan had a generous spirit and was known for his warmth—never meeting a stranger and always ready to lend a hand or share a kind word.

An avid outdoorsman, Logan enjoyed air boating, hunting, and fishing. Though he never served in the military, he had a deep respect for his country and carried a strong sense of patriotism throughout his life. Above all, Logan loved his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who brought him immense joy.

Logan is survived by his beloved wife, Linda, of Vero Beach; son, Jarod Johnson and his wife, Jessica, of Bloomington, IN; daughter, Lisa Tennant and her partner, Kenn, of Vero Beach; grandchildren, John Christopher, Jordan, Katie, Sierra, Gage, Jacob, Arianna, Jonah, Navena, and Naya; and great-grandchildren, Gianna, Owen, Emmitt, Forrest, Tanner, and Blaze. He is predeceased by his brothers, Britt and Rusty.

A visitation will be held on December 10, 2024, from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Cox Gifford Seawinds Funeral Home, followed by a service at 12:00 p.m. The burial will take place at Crestlawn Cemetery immediately following the service.

In honor of Logan's life, his family asks that you keep them in your prayers as they celebrate his love for God, family, and country.
