Laura Loretta Polito, 81 of Ft. Pierce, died Tuesday, April 19th with her family by her side.
She was born to the late Albert and Grace Buccheri on November 19, 1934 in Brooklyn NY. She became a musician without any formal training and took correspondence courses at Berkley School of Music in Boston, MA. Loretta had a long career as a musician, first in band and then as a solo pianist working throughout Rhode Island and Massachusetts until she retired in 2000. Thereafter she volunteered at various nursing homes giving music therapy classes to the elderly in Rhode Island.
Loretta married Anthony Polito in 1957 and they retired to Ft. Pierce full time in 2011.
Loretta is survived by her husband, Anthony Polito of Ft. Pierce; her children, Robert Polito of Ft. Lauderdale and Janet Polito of Naples, FL; her brother, Russell Buccheri of Johnston RI; her nephew, David Buccheri of Warwick RI and her niece, Dina Buccheri of Warwick RI.
