Lula M. Calhoun, 89, of Vero Beach, FL died Sunday, January 18, 2009 at Rosewood Manor of Vero Beach.
She was born May 12, 1919 in Kibby, GA and moved to Vero Beach in 1985 from Ormond Beach, FL where she had moved to in 1948 from Savannah, GA..
Prior to her retirement Mrs. Calhoun was a meat wrapper and member of the Allied Meat Workers Union.
Survivors include her daughter Sabara Harrington of Vero Beach; sons Charles Calhoun of Oxford, WI and Marcus Calhoun of Vero Beach; brother Oscar Roberts of Bunnell, FL; thirteen grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her husband Leroy Calhoun Sr. and sons Leroy Calhoun Jr. and Roger Calhoun.
Service: The family will receive friends 5-8 PM, Thursday, January 22, 2009 at the Cox-Gifford-Seawinds Funeral Home in Vero Beach. A celebration of life service will begin at 10 AM, Friday, January 23, 2009 at the Cox-Gifford-Seawinds Funeral Home with Rev. Gary Moore officiating. Interment will follow in Volusia Memorial Park in Ormond Beach, FL.
