Obituary

Mabel Nettles Hudmon, age 82, passed away on April 3, 2025, at the Good Shepherd Hospice House in Auburndale, Florida. She was born on December 28, 1942, in Okeechobee, Florida, to Ray and Priscilla Nettles.

Mabel was the embodiment of a strong Southern woman—fiercely devoted to her family and unwavering in her faith. Her love for those closest to her was matched only by her deep love for God.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 42 years, Gary Hudmon. Together, they owned and operated Patio Pawn Shop in Vero Beach, Florida, where they worked side by side for much of their marriage. She was also preceded in death by her parents, Ray and Priscilla Nettles; her sisters, Shirley Nettles Madden, Patricia Nettles Jenkins, and Hazel Nettles Holmes; and her brothers, Ray Emmett Nettles, Donnie Ray Nettles, and Ray Vernon Nettles.

Mabel is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Jack and Jeni Perko; her grandchildren, Brittany Zarshenas, Kylie Waters, Wyatt Varnadore, Garrett Perko, and Gavin Perko; her brothers, Herman Ray Nettles and Willis Ray Nettles; and her sisters, Carrie Belle Nettles Summerlin and Deborah Nettles Parsons.She will be remembered for her strength, her faith, and the love she poured into every life she touched.

A celebration of Mabel's extraordinary life will be held at 11:00am Friday April 18th at Cox-Gifford-Seawinds Funeral Home located at 1950 20th St, Vero Beach, FL, 32960.
