Margaret Ann Oess passed away at her home on February 7, 2014 after a courageous, six year battle with cancer. She is survived by her loving husband, Joseph, of 41 years. Margaret and Joe moved to Vero Beach in 1988, where they raised their three children; daughters Katie Oess and Carrie Marques (Carlo), of Vero Beach and son Steve Oess (Meg) of Little Falls, New Jersey. Margaret's four grandchildren, Belle, Matthew, Kellan and Noelle were her special joy!
Margaret was born in Cincinnati, Ohio. She is a graduate of the University of Cincinnati with a degree in Dental Hygiene, which she practiced for 35 years. Margaret loved learning, was an avid reader and a talented help to her family and friends.
She is preceded in death by her mother, Mary Ann Merk. Margaret leaves behind her father, Richard Merk, sisters Kathy Yoko (Gary), Barb Otto (Bob), Linda Speckert (Butch), and Julie Mavromatis, sisters-in-law Mary Schwartz and Margie Goebel (Rick), and brother-in-law Bob Oess (Colleen).
Family will be receiving friends at the Cox Gifford Seawinds Funeral Home in Vero Beach from 5-7 p.m. on Thursday, February 13. A Catholic Mass will be held at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Vero Beach at 10 am on Friday, February 14. Memorial contributions in Margaret's name may be made to the American Cancer Society.
