Obit: Margaret Anne Simpson Wickel
Margaret Anne Simpson Wickel, 80, a resident of Vero Beach, FL died, Monday, January 10, 2011 at the Indian River Medical Center.
Mrs. Wickel was born March 9, 1930 in Mountain View, Oklahoma to G. Spurgeon Simpson and Annie (Short) Simpson. She had been a longtime resident of Lakeview, Oregon where she lived her early childhood until high school graduation in 1948. She has been a resident of Vero Beach since 1986, moving from Stony Brook, Long Island, NY.
She was the President of the Indian River Chapter of Colonial Dames XVII Century and the Honorary Regent Treasure Coast Chapter Daughters of American Revolution. Mrs. Wickel was a member of the National Society Magna Charta Dames and Barons, Order of the Crown of Charlemagne, Treasurer of the Colonial Dames of America, Huguenot Society of South Carolina, Colonial Daughters of the 17th Century, United States Daughters of 1812, United Daughters of Confederacy and the Jamestowne Society.
She is survived by her husband Albert C. Wickel; sons, Col. Albert S. Wickel USAF (Ret), Cdr.
John W. Wickel USNR (Ret), William C. Wickel, Paul R. Wickel, James A. Wickel, Karl S. Wickel, Matthew S. Wickel; brother Arthur Simpson; sister Mary Nell Knowles; and 19 grandchildren
Service: The family will receive friends 5-7 PM, Sunday, January 16, 2011 at the Cox-Gifford-Seawinds Funeral Home in Vero Beach. Her life celebration service will be held at 10 am, Monday, January 17, 2010 at Cox-Gifford-Seawinds Funeral Home with Rev. Dick Flick of the First United Methodist officiating. Interment will follow at Johns Island Cemetery in Vero Beach.
