Obit: Margaret (Peggy) Stewart
Margaret (Peggy) Stewart died Monday, July 25, 2011 while under Treasure Coast Hospice care in Ft. Pierce, FL.
She was born on July 7, 1934 in Franklin Square, LI, NY and moved to Spanish Lakes Country Club Village of Ft. Pierce in 1988 from New York.
She graduated from Sewanhaka High School, Floral Park, NY in 1952 and began her career with the New York Telephone Co.. She worked as a communications consultant and her position assignments were varied and sometimes exciting, meeting some famous people, developing friendships. Peg retired from the company after more than twenty plus years.
Peggy was a very social and athletic individual. An avid snow skier, she was very active in the Long Island Garden City Ski Club, serving as lodge manager for a few years in Mad River, VT. She developed a love for travel and skied the slopes in Europe and visited other countries, England, Scotland (where all shopkeepers are named James Stewart) and faraway Australia, New Zealand, Antarctica and US Alaska and Hawaii. All her travels were on video tape to bring home for the family to see.
When she decided to really retire she steeled in Spanish Lakes Country Club Village in Ft. Pierce coming from East Meadow, NY. There she joined various clubs, played tennis and golf, volunteered at the Canteen and began hosting the Saturday Night Happy Hours in The Lounge with scavenger hunts, karaoke and sing-a-longs to the player piano (Peg donated the piano to the country club). Peg also attended the various entertaining Players shows (with her video camera in tow) and provided tapes for the entertainers. She also was the camera operator for the Senior Games.
She belonged to the Telephone Pioneers, BPOE #1520 of Ft. Pierce, the Moose Club in Vero Beach and the Scottish Club in Vero Beach.
She is survived by her sister, Catherine (Kay) Webersinn of SLCCV, Ft. Pierce; brothers, James (Jean) Stewart of Lakewood, NJ and Donald (Louise) Stewart of The Villages in Lady Lake, FL; Fourteen nieces and nephews and two great-nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents Margaret and James Stewart of East Meadow, NY.

Services: A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will take place at a later date.
